Snohomish County stretches from the Puget Sound on the west to the Cascade Mountains and the Snoqualmie National Forest on the east. Snohomish County land is located between Skagit County to the north and King County (and Seattle) to the south. It encompasses 2,090 square miles and is home to approximately 685,000 residents.

Snohomish County is named after the Snohomish Indian tribe and home to The Tulalip Tribes, a federally-recognized Indian tribe located on the Tulalip Reservation. The reservation is located to the west of Interstate 5 and the city of Marysville and to the east of the shores of Puget Sound. The Tulalip people settled on the 22,000 acre reservation after signing the Point Elliott Treaty with the former Washington Territory on January 22, 1855. Here's more about Snohomish County history.
Snohomish County has a varied topography with saltwater beaches, rolling hills and lowland river farmlands in the west and dense mountain forests and alpine wilderness in the east. Sixty-eight percent of the county land area is forest land, 18% is rural, 9% is urban/city and 5% is agricultural.
Everett, the county seat, is synomymous with Boeing. Beyond aircraft manufacturing, Snohomish county is home to biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. The county's economic growth has contributed to overall employment growth but especially in the knowledge worker category. Visit the official Snohomish County website.
Many Snohomish County cities are home to people communting to Seattle and the cities east of Lake Washington, such as Redmond and Bellevue. They include Everett, Mukilteo, Edmonds, Bothell, Mountlake Terrace, Lynnwood, Mill Creek and Monroe. With no bridges to cross, a commute from Monroe to Redmond is easier than from Seattle. That is why the Echo Lakes area, located only about five miles from the center of Woodinville, has become such a popular place to live.
